Fr. Lawrence Njoroge, the vice postulator for the cause of Cardinal Otunga’s beatification and canonization, provided an update on the beatification process, mentioning recent communication from the Postulator in Rome. The Positio, a crucial document in the process, is now ready for presentation to the Dicastery, a department for the Causes of Saints in Rome, for discernment and voting to advance Cardinal Otunga’s cause to the next level. The announcement was made on the 20th anniversary of his death. Speaking during the commemoration service, the Vice-Postulator of the Cause for the Sainthood of the Servant of God Michael Otunga, Fr. Lawrence Njoroge, said there had been a recent communication from Rome that the process was nearing completion. “It was sent to the petitioner and to the office that is handling the process in Nairobi,” Fr. Njoroge said, adding that the process was ready and will now “be presented to the dicastery to the department in Rome for their discernment so that they can vote for the servant of God to be considered for promotion to the next level.” All the previous stages, including the presentation of the official biography, have been successful and the present one is the most decisive, he explained.
